PhiloWeekend

After a long interruption the PhiloWeekend has been resurrected!

The PhiloWeekend is an opportunitiy for philosophy students to get ot know each other in a new way, on a more personal level than is possible in the seminar or at the PhiloBeer. The students' association rents out a mountain cabin and offers a programme to set the scene. A philosophical topic will instruct the weekend, to facilitate discussion. However, less academic activities will take centre stage, for example hiking or games, to make new friends or deepen old friendships.

Programme

What is the difference between religious delirium, psychedelic experience and dreams? What differentiates them from sober perception? Which epistemic and aesthetic value do these states have? How do we evaluate them from an moral standpoint, and in what political context do different states of conciousness and their influence on our perceiption have?
We will have small academic activities, e.g., presentations and movie or text discissions.
We have hikes, games and communal cooking planned to complete the social programme of the weekend.

Application

You can apply through this link. Your application is valid following the payment of CHF 100.-. Application is open until 18.06.2023.
We have the ability to finance a small number of participants who are not able to pay the participation fee. If this applies to you, please write contact us  an e-mail. 

Travel

The cost of travelling to and from the PhiloWeekend are not included in the price. It is a matter of the participants to organize their journeys. From the Zürich Main Station it takes approximately 1h and 30min. A recommendation for which train to take will be uploaded in the beginning of June.
